Q:

Are there any length requirements for a helicopter tail boom?

A:

The tail boom on a helicopter doesn't have to be a certain length, as long as the tail rotor, attached to the end of the tail boom, can create enough force to counter the torque reaction from the main rotor.  The shorter the tail boom is, the more the tail rotor has to push to stop the torque reaction. So as long as the tail rotor can push hard enough, the tail boom can be any length.
