Ask an Explainer

Q:

Does each galaxy contain one solar system?

A:

Solar systems consist of a star and all the celestial bodies which orbit it. This includes planets, comets, and asteroids. Galaxies contain billions and billions of stars which are all held together by gravity. Each star likely has planets and other bodies which orbit it. Therefore it is very likely that each galaxy has many solar systems within it.
