Ask an Explainer
Q:
How come it take seven months to get to Mars?
A:
Mars is really far away: we are 150 million km from the sun (90 million miles) while Mars is 200 million km (128 million miles) from the sun. This means, at the clostest point between Mars and the Earth, there are at least 50 million miles to travel. That's pretty far!
So even going as fast as we can go, we can't get to Mars in less than 7 months.
