Ask an Explainer

Q:

How does the angle of the wing affect the distance traveled by a plane?

A:

The angle of attack of the wing actually influences how much lift the plane will have. Too low, and the plane won't get enough lift; too high, and the plane will stall.

At the perfect angle, the plane will produce more lift, with less drag. This means they will be more efficient. With the same engine, the plane will be able to go higher and further.
