Q:

How does a plane withstand severe turbulence?

A:

Commercial planes are incredibly stable, which means that when they hit turbulence, there is virtually no chance that the plane will be damaged or sent off course. The plane is made to very specific shape, and out of solid materials, which means that when it flies through a patch of choppy air, it will bounce aroundbefore returning to its original position. It feels like it's being jostled more than it actually is.
