Q:

How many people died going to the Moon?

A:

No astronauts died during a mission to the moon; however, the astronauts during the Apollo 13 mission did run into danger due to their spacecraft being damaged, but returned safely back home. The crew for the Apollo 1 mission lost their lives during a training exercise when a fire broke out inside the command module on the launch pad on January 27, 1967.  The crew consisted of Lt. Col. Virgil Ivan “Gus” Grissom, Lt. Col. Edward Higgins White II, and Lt. Cdr. Roger Bruce Chaffee. Originally named as AS-204 mission, the mission was renamed to Apollo I in honor of the crew.
