Ask an Explainer

I was wondering if there were special controls to control pitch, yaw, and roll?

There are special control surfaces on the plane to direct how the plane flies.

There's the elevator at the tail end of the plane. This controls pitch, the up and down motion. The rudder is also on the tail of the plane. This controls yaw, the side to side motion. Then, there are the ailerons on the wings of the plane. They control roll, the swooping motion that also helps the plae turn.
