Q:

What is the major benefit of a lubrication system in aero engines?

A:

Friction is always a problem when it comes to airplanes. Friction drag outside the plane will slow it down, while friction inside of the engine's many moving parts can make it less efficient. The constant rubing and heat may even damage the engine. Using lubrication, the engine can operate more smoothly, provide all the thrust needed to fly!
