Ask an Explainer

Q:

What is the most powerful force of the four forces?

A:

For a plane to fly, the forces are unbalanced, so at one time one of the forces will have to be the strongest. If they were balanced, the plane wouldn't go anywhere (Newton's first law).

If the plane is going up and forward, then thrust and lift are the strongest. If the plane is going down, then weight is. If it is going backwards, drag is.
