Q:

When a plane rolls, let's say it's at 90 degrees does it also descend?

A:

When the airplane rolls, it shifts the direction of lift. If you imagine lift as being perpendicular to the wings, you'll notice that rolling the plane shift the direction of lift, and instead of pointing straight up, it points off at an angle. This means there is less lift pushing it up, and it will descend slightly. The more extreme the turn, the more altitude the plane will lose.
