Q:

Would it be possible to build a working ornithopter that could be worn by person enabling them to fly like a bird?

A:

Several ornithopters use light, powerful motors to stay aloft. Leonardo Da Vinci first proposed a design for human-powered ornithopter in which the human would serve as the engine with a series of pedals and cranks. Although Leonardo Da Vinci never built his ornithopter, it would have been far too heavy to fly. A design that could create lift, as well as a flapping motion may be enough to make an working ornithopter to carry a human possible.
