Q:

Are there gasses other than helium that make balloons float?

A:

A good subtitute is hydrogen. Hydrogen was historically used in blimps because of its lifting ability. Unfortunately, it is easily flamable, and deemed too risky to use after the Hindenburg disaster.

 

One could also use Neon, but it is very costly. Methane and ammonia are also common subtitutes-ammonia being primarily used in weather balloons.
