Q:

Do you still send animals to space?

A:

Animals are sometimes still sent to space for scientific research. However, this does not happen very often because taking care of them in space can be complicated. For example, if an animal got sick on a space station there would not be many resources for the astronauts to help it. Animals that have been on the International Space Station include mice, frogs, and crickets. Animals have helped further our knowledge of how microgravity affects the body, including advancing our understanding of bone-loss and muscle depletion.
