Ask an Explainer
Q:
How do flight controls work in modern aircraft?
A:
Flight controls work by moving control surfaces on a plane. By manipulating the yoke and foot pedals of an airplane, the pilot is able to control roll, pitch, and yaw. The combination of these movements lets the airplane turn in any direction. You can try controlling a plane yourself to see how this works with our controlled flight simulator.
