Q:

How do they get really fast cars to stay on the ground?

A:

Really fast cars like Formula One cars create downforce, in order to counteract lift and stay on the ground. Downforce is basically lift created in a downward direction by the aerodynamic elements of a car. The spoiler is one of the most important parts of the car in creating downforce. Spoilers work similarly to the way an airplane’s wings work with the exception being instead of pushing the vehicle up it pushes it down to the ground. The downforce on a car increases the vehicle’s grip on the road as well as counteract any lift the car creates.
