Q:

How does a plane get off the ground, and how does it conserve its fuel in the sky?

A:

In order for a plane to take off, it must pick up enough speed while on the ground that the force of lift becomes more than the force of gravity. As the plane moves forward, air flows over the wings generating lift. Two ways an airplane can conserve fuel are by performing regular maintenance on the outside and inside of the plane and by flying in clear weather with a direct route.
