In general, planes that have wings with larger aspect ratios are more efficient. This means that their wings tend to be long and skinny. That being said, some planes that are designed for specific tasks, like fighter jets, have shorter wings because it maks them more maneuverable. Wings with large aspect ratios are generally the most effective, but it really depends on the job the plane is built for.
