Q:
I know birds can fly, but why not penguins?
A:
Penguins are just not built to fly. Their wings simply do not produce enough lift to overcome their weight and get them into the air. Penguins' bodies are adapted to swimming and storing fat to stay warm, while most other birds' have light bodies that are perfect for flying.
