Ask an Explainer
Q:
What is the name of the generator used for flying objects?
A:
In an aircraft, the generator is called the Auxiliary Power Unit, or APU. This provides power for everything that is not related to thrust. APU are used to start the propulsion, then during flight to power the lights and AC in the cabin, along with the TV sets in some cases.
