Q:
What was the first spacecraft that was sent into space?
A:
Sputnik 1 was the first spacecraft to orbit Earth. Its launch is considered by many to be the beginning of the Space Age. Sputnik 1 was launched on October 4, 1957 by the Soviet Union. Some rockets, such as the V2 missile, were sent to space before Sputnik 1, but they did not carry anything to space.
