Q:

Which type of aluminum materials are used in aircraft structure?

A:

The aluminum materials that are found in modern aircraft parts, such as the airfoil and the frame of the plane itself, are often aluminum alloys, or a mix between aluminum and another material. A common aluminum alloy used in airplanes is the A356.0 alloy, which is used in engine parts as well as the airframe. However, some older aircraft, such as the Hughes H-1, were made out of bare aluminum instead of an alloy.
