Q:
Why didn't the Apollo 11 lander burn up on the way down to the Moon's surface?
A:
Unlike the Earth, the moon has no atmosphere. Since there is no air on the moon, there is no drag crated during landing and thus the lunar module did not have to worry about heat shielding.
