Why must force be applied to a paper aircraft in order for it to fly?
A:
Newton's first law states that a stationary object remains at rest until you apply a force to it. This means that if you DIDN'T apply a force to the plane, it wouldn't move at all! It needs something to thrust it along so that it can fly.
