If an aircraft turns its rudder but does not bank its wings, then the airplane will turn left or right on its vertical axis. For example, if the airplane is flying straight and constant, moving the rudder will turn the airplane to face another direction. But this could cause some problems, such as causing uncontrolled rolling due to a difference of air pressure on each wing. The rudder of an airplane is the control surface of the aircraft that changes its direction on the vertical axis. However, it is not meant to turn the aircraft alone. In fact, one of its main functions is to keep the stability of an airplane after an airplane turns using ailerons.
