A helicopter can do things most airplanes cannot. A helicopter can fly backwards and sideways, rotate in the air, and hover motionless in the air. Dwight D. Eisenhower became the first president of the United States to fly in this Bell H-13J helicopter, on display at the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
