The F-35B, which will be used by the U.S. Marine Corps, the United Kingdom, and Italy, is the first aircraft to combine stealth with supersonic speed and short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) capability. This aircraft is the first X-35 ever built. It was originally the X-35A and was modified to include the lift-fan engine for testing of the STOVL concept.
