Q:

Is gluing wings to my pets a way to get them to fly?

A:

Dogs and cats were not built to fly. They are heavy creatures, like humans. Birds have hollow bones to make them lighter, something mammals do not have. Nor does your pet iguana or snake.

Gluing wings wouldn't help their anotomical deficiensies. First of all, the wings would not be conected to their central nervous system, so the pet would not be able to flap them and fly like a bird. If you gave him fixed wings like an airplane, they would still not be able to run fast enough to create the amount of lift necessary to overcome their own weight and fly. They would also not be able to sustain the flight, because they could not create thrust.
