Q:
How is the closed wing design an effective airfoil
A:
The job of a wing is to produce lift by increasing the amount of surface area affected by Bernoulli's principle. A closed wing system, like that of a circle wing or even a boxed wing, are still designed like a regular wing, with the exception that the wing closes in on itself. This still allows air to travel around the wing, but significantly lowers the amount of vortex drag. This results in lower fuel consumption and higher theoretical speeds.
