Q:

How do flaps affect a pilot's vision on landing?

A:

Flaps actually do not affect pilot vision at all. They are located on the front and back edges of the wing, and drop downwards. The pilots sit in the front of the airplane, called the nose, in an area called a cockpit or a flight deck. The flight deck is well forward of the wing, and contains large windows that offer good vision. This way, pilots have very good vision during the entire flight without any other part of the airplane blocking them.
