Q:

How long can a rocket last in space?

A:

In space, there are only two forces that act on a rocket--thrust and weight (or gravity). There is no air to create drag and slow a rocket down. So, assuming your rocket has generated enough thrust to escape Earth's atmosphere and reach orbit or deep space, it can continue to fly for a pretty long time. Even if you turn the rocket engines off, or they run out of fuel, your rocket would keep moving until gravity pulls it into another object (e.g. the Earth, Moon, Mars, or the Sun).
