Q:
With technology today, would it be possible to move a 10-mile diameter asteroid into Earth's orbit?
A:
Not anytime soon.
NASA has a plan, the Asteroid Redirect Mission (ARM), to catch an asteroid and move it into an orbit near Earth's (most likely the moon's), but this plan calls for an aesteroid much smaller than 10 miles in diameter. The force needed for a 10 mile diameter asteroid is too large for any current technology.
