Why do birds fly in a "V" pattern?
A:
Just like airplanes, birds create vortices at the ends of their wings as they fly through the air. The birds behind the leader take advantage of these vortex fields to help them fly more easily, because they don't have to fight as much against the air, and therefore have less drag to deal with.
